GONDOLA

GONDOLA is a feature documentary-in-progress about a proposed aerial tram linking L.A.’s Union Station to Dodger Stadium. The 1.2-mile line, backed by a billionaire developer, promises to ease game-day traffic by flying over Chinatown and a state park.

Supporters call it a green transit solution. Opponents — including sisters Tany and Phyllis Ling, who co-founded Stop the Gondola — see it as a symbol of top-down planning and potential displacement. Their grassroots coalition includes residents, artists, Tongva leaders, and youth organizers, all raising questions about who benefits from “progress.”

The film uses this local fight to go further, exploring global questions of development, power, and who gets to shape the future of our cities.
